MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police chief Gen. Camilo Cascolan is apparently giving another chance to police officers who were reassigned to Mindanao years ago for criticizing former PNP chief Oscar Albayalde.

“For the ones who bashed before, don’t worry. If you approach me or tell my aide, we will study (your case),” he said in a speech during a change of command ceremony of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region police in Parang, Maguindanao on Monday.

Cascolan was referring to the 11 police officers Albayalde deployed to Mindanao in 2018 after they were caught posting negative comments about his leadership style when he was director of the National Capital Region Police Office. It is unclear if they are still assigned in Mindanao.

Yesterday, Cascolan told PNP officials they should not be overly sensitive to criticism from the public and their own subordinates.

“Take it as an opportunity to better yourself,” he told The STAR in a text message.
