2 more House employees catch virus

MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives has logged two more coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, bringing its total cases to 78 so far.

House secretary general Jose Luis Montales said the first is a member of the security staff who last reported for work on Sept. 9 while the second works in the House library and acquired the disease from a hospital.

“She experienced symptoms after taking care of her brother who was confined at a hospital due to some injuries,” he said.

Montales said that out of 78 confirmed cases, 17 remain active as of yesterday.

A total of 10 House members have contracted the disease, the latest being Gabriela party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas. Two of them have passed away – Senior Citizens party-list Rep. Francisco Datol and Sorsogon Rep. Ditas Ramos.
