Woman named Army artillery unit commander
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Army’s 2nd Field Artillery Battalion (FAB) under the Army Artillery Regiment operating in Davao del Sur, Sarangani and parts of North Cotabato has a female battery commander.
First Lt. Monnit Andrino assumed the post as she replaced Capt. Jorry Vinluan in ceremonies held at the Bravo Battery headquarters in Sitio Pulutana, Barangay Malandag, Malungon, Sarangani.
Andrino, who recently completed the field artillery officer advance course, was former assistant operations officer of the 2nd FAB.
Capt. Alvin Abella, spokesman for the 2nd FAB, said the unit provides field artillery canon fire in Davao region and parts of Soccsksargen.
