Strong quake jolts Mindoro
MINDORO, Philippines — A magnitude 4.6 earthquake shook parts of Mindoro island yesterday.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the temblor occurred at about 12:52 p.m., with its epicenter located six kilometers northeast of Sta. Cruz, Occidental Mindoro.
The quake was felt at Intensity 5, which is classified as strong, in Sta. Cruz. It was felt at Intensity 4 or moderately strong in Abra de Ilog and Sablayan, also in Occidental Mindoro, and Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro.
The quake was felt at Intensity 3 in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro and Intensity 2 in Batangas City.
Phivolcs said no damage or aftershocks were expected from the quake, which had a depth of seven kilometers.
