Sanchez transferred to Manila hospital

Neil Jayson Servallos - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Convicted rapist and murderer Antonio Sanchez has been transferred to a hospital in Manila, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) confirmed yesterday.

The former Calauan, Laguna mayor was moved to the Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center (JRRMMC) due to multiple electrolyte imbalance, stage four chronic kidney disease and pulmonary tuberculosis, according to the BuCor.

“On Friday night, he was transferred to the JRRMMC for referral to a nephrologist and sputum exam. The transfer was made through coordination done by One Hospital Command Center of the Department of Health,” the BuCor said. “New Bilibid Prison medical personnel are monitoring his status.”

Sanchez was earlier hospitalized for vomiting and diarrhea.

BuCor spokesman Gabriel Chaclag had earlier said Sanchez no longer needed to be transferred to the Philippine General Hospital after he tested negative for the coronavirus disease 2019.
