Pateros health officer dies of COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — The chief of the Pateros health department succumbed to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) yesterday.

Ronald Raymundo, 54, was confined at the Lung Center of the Philippines where he died of complications caused by COVID-19, Mayor Miguel Ponce III said.

Pateros recorded 99 cases of COVID-19. Barangay Sta. Ana posted the highest number of infections with 45. Barangay Martires del ’96 remains virus-free.

In Muntinlupa, Mayor Jaime Fresnedi placed Filinvest Socialized Housing Building 2 under extreme localized community quarantine beginning today until Aug. 11.

Fresnedi said the 14-day lockdown would be enforced to prevent the transmission of the virus in the city.
