Broadcast firm franchise renewed

MANILA, Philippines — President Duterte has signed into law a bill renewing the franchise of a broadcast company based in Zamboanga City.

Republic Act (RA) 11477, signed on June 25, allows Golden Broadcast Professionals Inc. (GBPI) to construct, install, establish, operate and maintain for commercial purposes radio or television broadcasting stations for another 25 years.

The company was granted a franchise through RA 8025, which was enacted in 1995.

Under the law, GBPI is expected to provide free of charge, adequate public service time for the government to relay important public announcements, provide sound and balance programming, and promote public participation, .

GPBI is an affiliate station of TV5 Manila.
