Warm weather to prevail this week – PAGASA

Helen Flores - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The rainy season has started, but warm weather will be experienced in most parts of the country in the next three days.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and stronomical Services Administration weather forecaster Aldzcar Aurelio said the ridge of a high-pressure area is pushing away the southwest monsoon, which brings rains.

The rainy season officially started last week after Tropical Depression Butchoy dumped heavy rains over most parts of the country.

“The easterlies and the ridge of high-pressure area will affect Northern and Central Luzon,” Aurelio said.

The ridge of a high-pressure area is a weather system associated with good and sunny weather while the easterlies is warm air coming from the Pacific.

The southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, is the dominant system during the rainy season.

“The southwest monsoon will only reach Indochina or Vietnam,” Aurelio said.

Yesterday, the maximum temperature in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan was expected to hit 37 degrees Celsius.
