SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines – Basa Air Base in Floridablanca has been placed on lockdown for 14 days due to the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.

Floridablanca Mayor Marvin Manalansan issued Executive Order (EO) 28 on Saturday, placing the air base on lockdown until May 29.

Manalansan said the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed that a person in the air base was infected with the virus.

Under the EO, movement of people to and from the air base is prohibited except for those involved in the delivery of essential goods and services as well as those authorized by the Philippine Air Force.
Manalansan directed the municipal disaster risk reduction and management office of the town to take charge of provisions and medical services of the people within the military base.

Meanwhile, the Pampanga city health office said two of its medical workers are the latest confirmed COVID-19 cases.

The first patient is confined in a government hospital in San Fernando City where she works. The other patient, a resident of Mabalacat City who works in Tarlac, was taken to the New Clark City quarantine facility.

There are now six confirmed cases in Pampanga.

The provincial health office (PHO) said five health workers are among those who recently recovered from the virus in the province.

PHO chief Rosanna Buccahan said Pampanga has recorded 61 recoveries.
