1.5 tons of processed meat seized in Ilocos Sur

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Philippines — At least 1.5 tons of processed meat suspected to be infected by African swine fever were seized in Barangay Bio in Tagudin, Ilocos Sur on Friday.

Police said the driver of a freezer van, Chito Gonzales, 32, and his helper Nilo Acoyno, 32, were arrested for failing to show the necessary documents.

The seized items reportedly came from Apalit, Pampanga.
