3 drug suspects slain in Luzon ‘shootouts’

MANILA, Philippines — Three drug suspects were killed in separate encounters in Bulacan and Laguna on Saturday.

Two of the fatalities, identified as Marlon Fajardo and Roberto Luis Amador, reportedly engaged police officers in a shootout following a sting in Barangay Canlubang in Calamba.

A third suspect, identified as Maximo de Luna Jr., was arrested.

Police said they recovered shabu with an estimated street value of P200,000 from the suspects, who were reportedly members of the Barok Fajardo drug group.

Probers also recovered from the scene of the encounter two handguns and a car believed used by the suspects.

Charges of violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act will be filed against De Luna, police said.

In Bulacan, drug suspect Edgardo Lazaro was killed in an alleged shootout in Barangay Matangtubig, Baliuag town.

The suspect reportedly drew his firearm after sensing that he was dealing with undercover agents.

Lazaro’s companion, identified as Kalbo, escaped on a motorcycle. 

Probers said they recovered from the scene of the encounter a revolver, bullet shells and marked money.
