NBI agent convicted for shooting colleague

MANILA, Philippines — An agent of the National Bureau of Investigation has been convicted by a Manila court of attempted homicide for shooting his colleague during a birthday party at the NBI headquarters seven years ago.

Special investigator Nestor Pascual was sentenced to up to four years in prison by Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 49 Judge Daniel Villanueva.

Court records showed that Pascual fired at Joselito Guillen following an altercation on Jan. 11, 2013.

The drunk Pascual fired at Guillen four times. The victim survived the attack.

Pascual was an Army special forces trooper before he joined the NBI.

He is presently assigned with the bureau’s counterintelligence division. Guillen is an executive officer at the NBI Special Task Force.
