Go helps Mandaue fire victims

The Philippine Star

MANDAUE, Philippines — Sen. Christopher Lawrence Go has provided financial assistance to families who lost their homes and belongings in a fire that hit a residential area in Mandaue City, Cebu recently.

From Cebu City, where he also extended assistance to fire victims in the villages of Barrio Luz, Kasambagan, Duljo Fatima and T-Padilla, Go proceeded to Barangays Centro and Tabok in Mandaue to distribute relief to 358 families composed of 1,215 individuals.

Go also witnessed the launch of the country’s 66th Malasakit Center at the Eversley Childs Sanitarium and General Hospital in Mandaue on Tuesday.

“I have food and financial assistance for all of you. I made sure that every family will receive help and no one will be left behind,” Go said.

He offered to provide new sets of uniforms and school supplies for students who lost their belongings in the incident.

“I will provide you with uniforms and school supplies so you can immediately return to classes,” he said.

Go said he could not allow students to miss classes because of the incident.

For Go, education is important and incidents such as these should not hinder the children from achieving academic growth.

He was joined by representatives of concerned government agencies in distributing the assistance to fire victims.

These are the departments of health, and social welfare and development, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and PhilHealth.

The National Housing Authority also committed to help the fire victims.
