MUNTINLUPA, Philippines — An official of the Eastern Police District (EPD) has been named Muntinlupa City police chief.
Col. Hermogenes Cabe, who headed the EPD’s Mobile Force Batallion (MFB), replaced Col. Gerardo Umayao, who was relieved from his post last week for his alleged failure to curb illegal gambling in the city.
Umayao will take over Cabe’s post at the MFB.
Southern Police District director Col. Emmanuel Peralta reiterated the no-take policy of Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa on illegal gambling.
Umayao and Pasay police chief Col. Bernard Yang were among the eight police officials sacked from their posts last week for supposed inaction to illegal gambling reports in their jurisdictions.
The PNP has yet to name Yang’s replacement.
Peralta said the relief of the officials should serve as a warning for other policemen.
