Ex-intel officer shot dead in Laguna

LAGUNA, Philippines — A police officer was gunned down in Biñan City, Laguna on Wednesday.

S/Sgt. Ronaldo Barrameda, former intelligence officer in Mindanao, had just alighted from his vehicle to buy construction materials at a hardware store in Barangay Sto. Tomas when a lone gunman approached and shot him several times.

Barrameda died while being treated at the Biñan Hospital.

The assailant fled on foot.

Col. Danilo Mendoza, Biñan police chief, said the killing could be work-related as the victim had received death threats related to his former work as intelligence officer.
