MANILA, Philippines — Quezon City residents will receive free maintenance medicine for diabetes and hypertension following the passage of an ordinance.
Mayor Joy Belmonte approved Ordinance No. SP-2892, S-2019 last December, which provides funding for the program.
Belmonte said the residents would be issued blue medical cards so they can avail themselves of the free medicine.
The residents are also entitled to free medical consultations.
Maintenance medicine for hypertension and diabetes include amlodipine, losartan metoprolol, metropolol tartrate, simvastatin and metformin.
Funding for the program will come from the mayor’s office.
