Party food downs 118 in North Cotabato; 1 dead

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A 53-year-old woman died and 118 others were taken to various hospitals for treatment after eating food served during a party organized for a women’s association in Barangay Salasang, Arakan, North Cotabato on Sunday.

The woman reportedly died of dehydration after she refused medical treatment.

Authorities said the victims complained of abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea.

North Cotabato Gov. Nancy Catamco, chairperson of the provincial disaster risk reduction and management council, said the provincial government is attending to the needs of the victims.
