Brod kills barangay clerk in Christmas party

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines — A barangay clerk was shot dead by his younger brother during a Christmas party in Barangay Dipanghit in Jones, Isabela on Saturday.

Damian Samut, 51, had an argument with his brother Ferdie, 50, during the party held at the barangay hall at around 9 a.m., according to Jones police chief Capt. Mervin delos Santos.

Ferdie went home to avoid his brother, who followed him and engaged him in a fight, Delos Santos said.

Ferdie took his caliber .30 carbine rifle and shot his brother, who died at the scene. Police officers detained the younger Samut following the incident.
