Bulacan resident dies of meningo

MALOLOS, Philippines — A resident of Bulakan, Bulacan died of suspected meningococcemia on Wednesday.

Jocelyn Gomez, Bulacan provincial public health officer, said the 54-year-old patient was brought to the Gregorio del Pilar District Hospital on Tuesday after he complained of rashes in the face, abdominal pain and difficulty breathing.

Gomez said the patient was transferred to the San Lazaro Hospital in Manila, where he died.

Local health officials are tracing those who had close contact with the patient. Quarantine procedures are in place in the hospital where the patient was initially brought for treatment.
