SEAG closing rites: Brace for monstrous traffic
MANILA, Philippines — Commuters and motorists should brace for traffic congestion as a stop-and-go scheme would be implemented along EDSA and other major thoroughfares for the closing ceremony of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said yesterday.
Motorists are advised to avoid the yellow lane on EDSA, which will be used by the convoy of athletes and delegates on their way to Clark City in Pampanga at around 5 p.m. today.
The MMDA said 114 buses carrying the athletes would travel today from their hotels in Metro Manila to Capas, Tarlac.
The buses will use the yellow lane as well as flyovers, tunnels and underpasses along EDSA around lunchtime to make it to the venue, the MMDA said.
A stop-and-go scheme will be implemented to allow the delegates and athletes to pass through traffic. Motorists are requested to give way to the athletes, the MMDA said.
