PCSO to aid wounded cops
MANILA, Philippines — Policemen wounded during anti-crime operations should not worry about medical care.
This was the memorandum of agreement signed by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) for the latter to render assistance to wounded policemen.
Under the MOA, NCRPO chief Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas said policemen wounded during anti-crime operations would get benefits.
“The MOA formalizes the PCSO’s extending help to policemen wounded during anti-crime and anti-drug operations,” Sinas said.
He added PCSO general manager Royina Garma has approved the agreement.
Also included in the MOA is the PCSO’s help in the NCRPO internal cleansing, especially in the intensified random drug tests.
Sinas said another salient point of the agreement was to finalize community relations through medical and dental programs.
According to Sinas, he also coordinated with Garma on the development of the Small Town Lottery (STL) in Metro Manila in order to get a clear picture of which areas to raid during their anti-illegal gambling operations.
“There are only three cities with STL approved by PCSO’s general manager Garma,” Sinas said without mentioning the areas.
“We expect to conduct raids in areas where jueteng and other forms of illegal gambling prevail,” he said.
