3,870 kilos of ‘hot’ meat seized in Manila
MANILA, Philippines — Authorities confiscated around 3,870 kilos of banned pork and other smuggled meat products at the Arranque Market in Manila yesterday afternoon.
Personnel of the city veterinary inspection board recovered the two truckloads of meat products.
Mayor Isko Moreno warned traders who are taking advantage of the Christmas season to sell tainted pork.
“We confiscated more than two tons of banned meat last week. But some unscrupulous individuals are still trying to test our resolve,” Moreno said.
He called on the consumers to be vigilant against “double dead” pork meat.
