Man shot dead by son, 8

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – An eight-year-old boy allegedly gunned down his father at their home in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday night.

The victim, 39, suffered three gunshot wounds in the chest, according to the police.

Prior to the shooting, the victim, who was under the influence of liquor, reportedly beat the suspect in front of his two siblings, Lt. Col. Necerato Sabando, Sipalay City police officer-in-charge.

Sabando said the boy allegedly took the .38-caliber revolver of his father and shot him three times.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development has taken custody of the boy.

Probers said the man maltreated his children whenever he was drunk. His wife works in Manila.
