MANILA,Philippines — Filipinos can watch out for Leonids meteor showers this month, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said yesterday.
“A zenithal hourly rate (ZHR) of about 15 meteors might occur in the late hours of Nov. 17 until dawn of the following day,” PAGASA said.
Leonids is one of the most prolific meteor showers. Its radiant is in the constellation Leo which is located in the eastern section of the sky at dawn.
PAGASA said unlike the previous years where it produced hundreds of meteors, astronomers and experts do not predict many meteors this year.
“Unfortunately, the waning gibbous moon will interfere with the observation of fainter meteors,” PAGASA said
