Congressional spouses to launch art exhibit today
MANILA, Philippines — At least 75 artists from the Philippine Visual Arts will display their works at the south wing lobby of the House of Representatives starting at 1 p.m. today.
Taguig City Rep. Lani Cayetano, president and chairperson of the Congressional Spouses Foundation Inc. (CSFI), said the exhibit is in partnership with the Pinto Art gallery.
The fund raiser, dubbed “Pinto sa Kongreso: An Art Appreciation Exhibit,” will run until Oct. 3.
Cayetano said proceeds of the exhibit would be used to fund CSFI projects.
“The exhibit presents contemporary art practice, putting a spotlight on the remarkable Filipino talent, creativity and imagination,” she said.
The exhibit features artists’ works that portray various themes, from abstract expressions to figurative depictions of everyday life to fantastical representations of surreal imagery, enriching the Filipino culture that captures the noble spirit of the nation, according to Cayetano.
Among the guests of honor during the opening of the exhibit are Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano and Joven Cuanang of Pinto Art.
This is the first project of the CSFI, which is a non-stock, non-profit organization composed of the spouses of House members.
The exhibit aims to support the legislative initiatives of lawmakers through the implementation of socio-civic projects for the benefit of their constituents.
As a cause-oriented organization, the CSFI is committed to complement the legislative and public service mandate of the House of Representatives and its members.
In collaboration with government agencies and other organizations, the CSFI harnesses its organizational value in championing the cause of a better quality of life for Filipinos.
