Yanson matriarch hit on social media
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — The family feud over the control of the largest transportation firm in the Visayas and Mindanao is far from over after social media trolls attacked the matriarch of the Yanson family yesterday.
Leo Rey Yanson, president of the Vallacar Transit Inc. (VTI) based in Negros Occidental, urged his siblings to stop hiring trolls to attack their mother Olivia.
The Yansons are squabbling over the control of the VTI and other subsidiaries of the Yanson Group of Bus Companies with Leo Rey, his mother Olivia and sister Ginnette in one camp, and siblings Roy, Ricardo Jr., Emily and Celina in another.
Leo Rey said he was referring to some bogus Facebook accounts that were created or hired to spread lies and muddle the issue.
He challenged his siblings to stop creating or sponsoring social media trolls to lambast him, Ginnette and their mother.
“I understand if you lambast me or our sister Ginnette. But not our mother, who sacrificed her life to bring us where we are right now,” Leo Rey said in a statement issued yesterday.
Earlier, Olivia assured the public that the operations of the VTI would not be disrupted again.
Olivia said her camp would hold Celina accountable for the missing P380 million in company funds.
The funds allegedly went missing when Celina was the company’s chief financial officer in 2018.
