Pakistani caught with abortion drug
MANILA, Philippines — A 32-year-old Pakistani was apprehended for alleged possession of the abortifacient drug Cytotec in Sta. Cruz, Manila on Saturday.
Nadeem Yunas Rana, of Belisarion Subdivision in Pulang Lupa, Las Piñas City, yielded 400 tablets of Cytotec.
Members of the Manila Police District Special Mayor’s Reaction Team led by Capt. Edward Samonte were conducting clearing operations at the corner of Rizal Avenue and Raon street when a woman informed them that Rana was allegedly selling Cytotec, a drug for ulcer that causes abortion.
During questioning, Rana admitted that he was about to meet a woman who regularly buys Cytotec from him.
The suspect did not identify his supplier of the prohibited drug.
Rana is being held by police on charges of violating Republic Act 3720 or the Food, Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
