MANILA, Philippines — President Duterte has appointed retired general Raul del Rosario as the new administrator of the Office for Transportation Security (OTS).
Duterte signed Del Rosario’s appointment papers on Aug. 28, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced on Tuesday.
The OTS is an attached agency of the DOTr tasked to lead the country’s security programs for public transportation hubs.
Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade welcomed Del Rosario’s appointment.
“With his experience in the military and skills in intelligence and counterterrorism, I am confident that General Del Rosario will elevate the country’s transportation security measures to be at par with international standards,” Tugade said.
He described Del Rosario as the “right man for the job.”
Del Rosario said he hopes to improve transportation security programs throughout the country.
Prior to his appointment to the OTS, Del Rosario served 37 years in the military as commander of the Western and Central Commands of the Armed Forces. He also held various positions in the Philippine Air Force.
He served as vice president for operations of the Clark International Airport Corp.
