2 gunned down while catching spiders

LAGUNA, Philippines — Two persons were shot dead while catching spiders in Barangay San Rafael, San Pablo City in this province on Wednesday.

The bodies of junkshop boy Jaymark Espregante, 20, a resident of Barangay Bagong Bayan, and tricycle driver Dave Christian Garcia, 25, of Barangay Concepcion were recovered in a grassy area at around 4:15 a.m., Col. Eleazar Matta, Laguna police director, said yesterday.

Initial investigation showed the suspect, said to be a drug addict, shot the victims after he was awakened by the noise they created.

“We identified the gunman... He is being hunted by a tracker team,” Matta said.
