6,000 workers in Bicol regularized
MANILA, Philippines — Over 6,000 contractual workers have been regularized in Bicol, according to the Department of Labor and Employment.
DOLE-Bicol director Alvin Villamor said 3,780 workers were voluntarily regularized while 2,249 were regularized after inspection by DOLE personnel.
“We encourage employers to submit their roster of employees and voluntarily regularize their workers,” Villamor said.
He said the DOLE is addressing illegal contractualization, including labor only contracting, by promoting voluntary regularization of workers.
Villamor said the DOLE also conducts routine inspections and evaluates private establishments’ compliance with labor laws.
The DOLE said it hopes to facilitate the regularization of about a million contractual workers this year.
