Mayor to file charges over STD allegation
LAGUNA, Philippines — A municipal mayor in this province is readying charges against a woman who accused him of infecting her with sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
Mayor Milbert Oliveros of Cavinti broke his silence on Friday after the woman, identified only as Christina, filed criminal and administrative complaints against him before the Office of the Ombudsman.
“I’m not sick and I have no sexually transmitted disease,” Oliveros said as he showed the results of his laboratory test conducted at the Laguna Doctors’ Hospital.
“We are still waiting for a copy of the criminal complaints,” Oliveros added as he denied he had a relationship with the woman.
He said his political rivals could be behind the allegation against him.
In filing the complaint, the woman submitted a copy of test results showing the mayor tested positive for STDs.
She said she discovered she was infected with STDs when she took a pregnancy test.
