Subic trader tagged in brother’s slay ordered arrested
MANILA, Philippines — A local court has ordered the arrest of businessman Dennis Sytin and his co-accused in connection with the murder of his brother Dominic in November.
“You are hereby commanded to arrest Ryan Rementilla, alias Oliver Fuentes, and Allan Dennis Sytin, who were charged before this court for the crime of murder, and to bring them before this court as soon as possible,” read the order issued by Olongapo City Regional Trial Court Branch 72 Judge Richard Paradeza on Monday.
The self-confessed gunman, Edgardo Luib, was arrested on March 5.
Dennis was tagged as the mastermind and Rementilla as his cohort based on Luib’s extrajudicial confession.
Luib said he was promised P1 million to kill Dominic, but was paid only P50,000.
Dennis, Luib and Rementilla were indicted last week after the Department of Justice (DOJ) found probable cause in the complaint filed by the Philippine National Police and the victim’s widow, Ann Marietta.
A DOJ panel rejected the defense of Dennis in his counter-affidavit that there was no clear and categorical evidence to support Luib’s claim.
Dennis claimed he never met Luib, and that the evidence pointed to Rementilla as the brains in the killing.
Dominic, the founder and chief executive officer of United Auctioneers Inc.(UAI), is the older brother of Dennis.
Dominic was killed in front of the Lighthouse Hotel in Subic on Nov. 28. His driver Efren Espartero was wounded.
Probers said the killing could be connected with an alleged fight over control of shares of UAI, one of the biggest auction firms in the country. – With Bebot Sison Jr.
