Man held for raping, killing niece, 5

MALOLOS, Philippines — Personnel of the Calumpit police arrested on Tuesday a man who allegedly raped and killed his five-year-old niece in Barangay San Miguel, Calumpit, Bulacan on Tuesday.

Col. Chito Bersaluna, Bulacan police chief, said the body of the girl was found floating in Pampanga River.

Police said the suspect was only considered a person of interest, but he confessed to the crime upon questioning.

Bersaluna said the mother of the victim told police the suspect started molesting her daughter when she was three years old.
