MANILA, Philippines — A Marikina policeman was relieved from his post yesterday for allegedly beating up an eight-year-old boy in Pasig City on Sunday night.

S/Sgt. Nicolas Lapie Jr. was reassigned to the District Headquarters Support Unit of the Eastern Police District (EPD), according to Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, director of the National Capital Region Police Office.

Eleazar ordered EPD director Brig. Gen. Nolasco Bathan to recommend Lapie’s inclusion in the values and formation seminar at the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority.

Investigation showed that the boy was watching a basketball game in Barangay Bambang when Lapie grabbed the victim by the neck and beat him.

Police said charges of physical injuries in relation to the lawn on violence against women and children would be filed against Lapie.
