TNVS drivers go on strike today
MANILA, Philippines — The nationwide transport holiday by some transport network vehicle service (TNVS) groups will push through today despite efforts by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to reach out to drivers.
Some 35,000 ridesharing drivers will go offline from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. to protest what they called “pahirap policies” of the LTFRB over franchise applications.
This is said to be the first transport holiday to be staged by app-based operators.
The Anti-Red Tape Authority is also set to hold a dialogue with leaders of the TNVS groups and the Department of Transportation this morning.
The LTFRB set a dialogue with the operators on Tuesday to address their concerns.
Meanwhile, transport network company Grab said it will offer monetary rewards and incentives for its partners who will continue to provide service today.
