Windshield-smashing beggar caught

MANILA, Philippines — A beggar seen on a viral video hitting a motorist’s windshield on EDSA after she refused to give him P100 was arrested on Sunday.

Richard dela Cruz, 24, was caught in the act of aiming a stone at passing cars along Manlunas street in Barangay 183, Pasay City at around 1:50 p.m., police said.

Lawmen seized a 10-inch balisong or fan knife from Dela Cruz after frisking him.

The suspect faces charges of alarm and scandal and illegal possession of a bladed weapon.

Netizen Mane Teodoro, in a video posted on Facebook last June 25, said a man blocked her car as she was driving along EDSA’s northbound lane between Guadalupe and Boni Avenue and demanded P100 from her.
