2 Marines nabbed for gambling

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Philippines — Two Marines were arrested after they were caught betting on a cockfight in Barangay Pengue-Ruyu in this city on Friday.

Cpls. Jey-Pherson Calagui, 30, was detailed with the Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila and John Lerry Barsabal of the Marine Battalion Landing Team in Maguindanao, Lt. Col. George Cablarda, city police chief, said.

Cablarda said the arrest was based on President Duterte’s order prohibiting government personnel from entering casinos and cockpits.

He said Calagui’s caliber .45 pistol was confiscated.
