Cop sacked for beating up vendor
MANILA, Philippines — A policeman has been relieved from his post for allegedly beating up and holding a vendor at gunpoint in Quezon City earlier this month.
The vendor went to authorities on Friday and reported that Pat. Domino Cabuag, assigned to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) mobile force battalion, assaulted him as he was tending his wares on June 8.
The vendor said Cabuag confronted him for allegedly pinching the ear of the policeman’s nephew.
The lawman supposedly hit the complainant’s face several times and poked his handgun at the victim’s temple. Before leaving, Cabuag reportedly kicked the victim’s left leg.
National Capital Region Police Office director Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said he has ordered the relief of Cabuag and his transfer to the QCPD Holding and Support Unit.
Cabuag faces charges of physical injury and grave threats.
