NAIA-3 gates fail to open

Rudy Santos - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Passengers of Cebu Pacific’s Flight 5J930 from Bangkok had to wait at least half an hour to disembark yesterday afternoon when Gate 108 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA-3) failed to open.

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) apologized to the airline for the delay.

NAIA-3 engineering personnel had to use special tools to unlock the steel door of Gate 108.

The MIAA assured passengers that the incident, which occurred at past 5 p.m., is an isolated case. Prior to the glitch, eight flights used Gate 108 yesterday without any problems, the agency said

The MIAA is repairing Gate 108 as of presstime and is looking into what could have caused the glitch.
