LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Philippines — A suspect in the killing of a college student in Dagupan City on Sunday was arrested on Monday.
Jeric Gonzales, 23, was collared at the house of his relative in Barangay Muelang, Mangatarem, according to Col. Redrico Maranan, Pangasinan acting police director.
Lt. Col. Abubakar Mangelen Jr., acting Dagupan City police chief, said the suspect had scratches on various parts of his body, an indication that the victim fought back.
Bernadette Saplan, 18, a first year civil engineering student at the PHINMA-University of Pangasinan, was found dead and around 100 meters from her house in Barangay Bonuan Gueset.
Police said the victim could have also been raped.
Gonzales was arrested for theft on June 16, 2013 and robbery with attempted rape on June 23, 2016.
