Ex-TV exec sees ‘powerful’ hands in harassment rap

Edu Punay - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Is the sexual harassment case of ABS-CBN showbiz anchor Gretchen Fullido being blown out of proportion by “powerful” individuals or groups?

The former news executive and segment producer of the TV network raised this question yesterday as they called on Fullido’s camp not to resort to trial by publicity and instead let the case be resolved by court.

In a joint statement sent to The STAR, former integrated news department ecosystem head Cheryl Favila and segment producer Maricar Asprec believed that unseen hands have started to interfere in the sexual harassment case.

“There are interests involved here that go beyond all of us. We fear that invisible and powerful players are using this case for their own ends,” they stressed, but did not name names.

Favila and Asprec said they are hoping the case will be resolved in the proper forum and not through an apparent trial by publicity.

The Quezon City prosecutor’s office recently indicted Favila and Asprec after finding probable cause in the complaint filed by Fullido last year.
