9-hour blackout hits Bataan

Ric Sapnu - The Philippine Star

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines — At least five towns and a city in Bataan were without power for nine hours on Saturday due to maintenance and repair works of power cables.

The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) and the Peninsula Electric Cooperative said the power outage occurred from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.,  as linemen would replace damaged insulators and trim tree branches.

Among those affected by the power outage were Balanga City and the towns of Abucay, Samal, Orani and Hermosa.

“We will be replacing the insulators and at the same time conduct clearing to avoid further blackouts,” the NGCP said.
