1 dead, 13 hurt in road mishap

SUBIC, Zambales  , Philippines  —  A person died and 13 others were injured when a car collided with a jeepney in Barangay Pamatawan in this town on Tuesday.

The fatality was identified in a police report as Giovanni Hipolito, 45, an employee of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority.

Scavenger Michael Bordan, who was sideswiped by the jeepney, remains in critical condition at the Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Olongapo City.

Initial investigation showed Alfredo de la Cruz, 32, driver of the Toyota Vios, hit the jeepney in the opposite direction when he changed lane.

De la Cruz was charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, serious physical injury and damaged to property.
