For northbound lanes, the MMDA said the first and second lanes at the intersections between Aurora Boulevard and Five Star were closed to traffic along with the first lane on Quirino Highway.

The MMDA urged motorists to look for alternate routes as the roads will be remain closed until Monday morning.

Despite the heavy traffic, the MMDA said that it is all set for the opening of classes.

In a statement, the MMDA said that more than 2,000 traffic personnel will be deployed on Monday to ensure a safe and orderly opening of classes in the metropolis.

“We shall field traffic personnel in traffic-prone areas around the metropolis and monitor traffic situation on roads leading to schools so we can easily augment personnel when needed,” MMDA chairman Danilo Lim said.

He said that all of the MMDA’s traffic heads were told to coordinate with school officials, barangays and local traffic bureaus to implement measures on how to ease traffic within school vicinities.
