Coin toss breaks tie in Palawan mayoral race

MANILA, Philippines — Former mayor Sue Cudilla was declared the winner in the mayoral elections in Rizal town in Palawan after three coin tosses.

A coin toss was held to break the tie between Cudilla and incumbent Mayor Noel Beronio, who both received a total of 3,495 votes from 16 clustered precincts.

In the 2016 elections, the Comelec resolved a tie in mayoral race in Bocaue, Bulacan also through a coin toss.

Eleanor “Joni” Villanueva and Jim Valerio both garnered a total of 16,694 votes. Villanueva was proclaimed winner.
