MANILA, Philippines — President Duterte has endorsed the candidacies of Roman Romulo and Victor “Vico” Sotto, who are running for congressman and mayor of Pasig City, respectively.
Duterte described Romulo as an industrious and honest politician, who has never been accused of corruption.
Romulo was representative of Pasig’s lone district from 2007 to 2016.
Duterte appealed to Pasig voters to give Romulo a fresh term in Congress, saying he has provided solutions to the city’s drug problem.
“I think he deserves to be in Congress again,” the President said. “He is a lawyer and I’m sure he will serve the people of Pasig.”
Duterte also threw his support behind Sotto, son of comedian Vic Sotto.
The President urged Pasig voters to elect Romulo and Sotto to ensure the delivery of basic services in the city.
