No damage in BGC building after water tank ruptured during quake

MANILA, Philippines — Normal operations have resumed in a building in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City after a water  ruptured during the magnitude 6.1 earthquake on Monday.

In a statement, the management of Net Group confirmed that a water tanked ruptured in its Net Park building during the powerful quake on Monday.

The incident were captured by several online users and videos of the water tank rupture circulated on social media.

“Due to the earthquake we experienced today at around 5:10 pm, an external fiberglass roofdeck water tank provided by a professional third party at Net Park ruptured,” the management said.

“This caused water to cascade over the side of the building. The water was absorbed by the green roofs located on the 8F,” it added.

The management said the flow of water was immediately contained within 10 minutes.

It added that the seven buildings under Net Group portfolio in BGC did not sustain any damage, structural impact.

They said the employees were also safe and did not sustain injuries.

Following the incident, Net Park president Ramon Rufino reportedly said the water tank is under repair.
