Truck hits car in Bataan; 3 dead, 4 hurt

ABUCAY, Bataan, Philippines — Three persons died while four others were seriously injured when a trailer truck hit a car along the highway in Barangay Calaylayan in this town on Tuesday.

Senior Inspector Jennifer Amar Cruz, Abucay  police chief, identified the fatalities as Blanca Mendoza, Analyn Benavidez and her husband Ronnie, all passengers of the Mitsubishi Mirage. They were pronounced dead on arrival at the Bataan General Hospital.

The driver of the car, Romeo Mendoza, Roxanne Benavidez and two children – Carlyn Mendoza, 10, and Renz Valladorez, 2 – remain confined at the intensive care unit in the same hospital. 

Initial investigation showed the victims were on their way to attend a fiesta in Barangay San Jose, Dinalupihan when the accident occurred. 

The car was reportedly changing lane when it was hit by a truck driven by John Tesing. The car also crashed into a tanker driven by Leandro Natividad. 

Tesing and Natividad were arrested.
