MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Justice has summoned the Dennis Sytin, brother of  slain businessman Dominic , over the police’s murder and frustrated murder complaints against him.

Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Juan Pedro Navera issued a subpoena against Dennis, for a preliminary investigation on April 1, at the DOJ office in Padre Faura.

“You are hereby warned that failure on your part to comply with this subpoena shall be considered as a waiver on your part to present your defense/s in this preliminary investigation and the case shall be considered submitted for resolution based on complainant’s evidence only,” Navera added.

Sytin, founder and chief executive officer of United Auctioneers Inc., was shot at close range by a motorcycle-riding assailant in November last year. His bodyguard, Efren Espartero, was seriously wounded in the attack.

On March 5, police arrested Edgardo Luib—believed to be the gunman in the case—in Santo Tomas, Batangas.

Police said that Luib pointed to Dennis Sytin, brother of the slain businessman, as the brains behind the crime.

Dennis is the current chief operating officer of UAI. He has denied the allegations against him and said that he is being used as a scapegoat.

Dominic’s former employee, Oliver Fuentes, alias Ryan Rementilla, was also tagged as respondent in the murder complaint. He was fired for alleged embezzlement of around P1 million of UAI’s earnings.
