CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Three suspected carjackers and a gun-for-hire were killed in alleged shootouts with police officers in Laguna and Batangas over the weekend.

Mario Molino and two others identified only as Tito and JR reportedly fired at law enforcers who responded to reports that a certain Maynard Garcia lost his vehicle to robbers in Barangay Luta Norte, Malvar.

Jayar Siervo, 35, reportedly shot police officers serving a search warrant at his residence in Barangay San Miguel, Alaminos, Laguna.

Col. Eleazar Matta, Laguna police director, said the fatality was a member of Alvero Amante and Manambit drug rings that are also engaged in gunrunning.

A search on Siervo’s residence reportedly yielded an M16 rifle, a 12 gauge shotgun and various types of ammunition. – Non Alquitran
